Can you charge the same for a virtual event as you would for a live event?

Can you charge the same for a virtual event as you would for a live event?

I am hoping to get a conversation started on this topic. We see everyone pivoting to virtual events in the current climate. The question that weighs heavy on my mind is, can we be charging the same for a virtual event as we can for a live event?

It’s a simple, yet difficult question, what is the value of your virtual event? Can you charge the same for your virtual event as you would for your live event?

I don’t have facts to prove this in either direction, what I am looking to do is open this up for discussion. I am seeing some events drop their registration fees right down while others are maintaining their regular live event registration fees.

Same content, same value?

But what about the fact that now the host is no longer paying for:

  • venue
  • food and beverage
  • signage
  • transportation and accommodations for speakers

Should registration prices stay the same if their costs are significantly reduced?

As an attendee do you feel that the value is still worth a full ticket price? Do you feel you will get the same out of the event without the networking opportunities?

Let’s talk about it?
